Young Kiasu Sangkabagus

Yesterday I was chatting with a girl who i added in my YM list sometime back becoz i tot she was ok.
I asked her about work and she said she came over to near where i work as there was a job fair. I asked "oh there is?" to which she replied "kata keja kat tempat x". I just said

K7: well tempat_x is kinda big
kiasu_sangkabagus : ala acivity utama tempat_x should alert la
K7 : is it really utama?
kiasu_sangkabagus: ya lah
K7 : what interest is it to me?
kiasu_sangkabagus : cam event_x tu
K7 :i know ada event_x
kiasu_sangkabagus:job affair (this shows how naive she is that she cant distinguish btwn 'fair' and 'affair') tu slalunya skali ngan event_x
kiasu_sangkabagus : mak ai
kiasu_sangkabagus :eksen nyer dia
K7 :biasala
K7 : u eksyen
K7 : i pun boleh eksyen
kiasu_sangkabagus : i eksen ke
kiasu_sangkabagus : bila?
K7 : " ala acivity utaman tenpat_x u should alert la"
K7 : just because u know about it
kiasu_sangkabagus : hahahaha
K7 : doenst mean its important to everyone
kiasu_sangkabagus : funny la u nih
kiasu_sangkabagus : mcm budak kecik
kiasu_sangkabagus : tu bukan eksyen namanya
K7 : hehe..yeah yeah...
K7 : at least i dotn make myself self important
K7 : assuming everyone knows what u know...thats just naive
K7 : LOL
kiasu_sangkabagus: ok
kiasu_sangkabagus : u win

well, i could be wrong but during my time, u graduated u were thrown out into the world. No job fair unlike these spoonfed grads. The question is: Was i wrong to act defensively? Wouldn't u agree that this person was 'kurang ajar' and trying to be a smart alec?

Shes not the only one. I remember telling someone i had an interview with Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam and she asked "for what post?". I said "i'm not sure". I skimmed through the letter disinterested as I just got this job i am in now. She went on to say "Macam mana boleh tak tau" bla bla bla.

For government servants who find it so hard to reply decent emails, she was trying to act superior without knowing why I never bothered to know. Not the kind who takes it lying down, I did my usual firing back and told her I didnt wanna be a SA in the goverment like her who talk alot about perfection but cant reply the simplest emails.

But I guess u cant blame these kind of people. They usually have an inferiority complex. they are always on the lookout to prove themselves. When you're young and just graduated, they think they can climb the corp ladder fast by stepping on heads and showing who's boss or that you're fast lane material. But all u do is just stoop lower and display your naiveness. No one respects these kind of people.

AT one time after I graduated, I had that perception on life and work. Before I got a job at one time i thought my job would involve shouting at people who didnt know how to do their jobs and 'bila tak tau, buat cam tau'. Luckily that part of my perception never came into light.I was lucky i didnt come the kiasu smart alec. I learned to get something done, at best, is to rally up support from your peers through respect and hard work and what you know.

So to you youngsters out there : Jangan sangka bagus. Dont think just because you have a job, you know it all or you are fast lane material. Dont think just because you have a car and obtained your licence, you're automatically a race car driver. To sum it all up dont think you're a hotshot.

Dont assume just because you have a small piece of information you're above everyone else...Other people have eaten more salt and are prob wiser not to make the stupid assumptions u make in life. You'll just end up looking like a moron.
